The Visitors #1

Another one bites the dust. Volume 8 is done. Here's the first chapter of "The Visitors".

The little comic at the end. Sorry, it won't make much sense if you don't know how to play mahjong. If you do, it still won't make much sense.

And the complete volume 8.

  1. Awesome translation speed, as always! Was there a page missing from the end of the previous release though? It's seems a bit disjointed.

  2. No, the mangaka started some of the chapters with an intro before the title page. Kind of like those tv shows that run a little of the episode before the intro song plays.

  3. Just found out about Birdy a week ago and have been scouring the internet for the manga after watching all the episodes. I thought there was no hope till I found this site. Keep it up :)

P.S. Also, do you know where I might be able to find the first 4 volumes? Thanks.

  4. No problem. And if you track down the older anime from the '90s I would recommend not watching it in english. Decode was dubbed well, Double Trouble and Final Force - not so much.

Here's the groups that did the first 4 volumes. They have download links for them.

  6. In the Volume 8, page 105, upper-left frame - there is a bubble with some untranslated text in it. I understand why you haven't translated it, but do you have any idea what's written there?

  7. Also, on page 161 I didn't quite get the joke with the names. Can someone clarify?

  8. Can you help me out some more? I got a lot of pages from the sites you mentioned but not all of the downloads worked. Im still missing Double Trouble #4. The Third Power #4,7. The Child of Quarter #1,2,3,4,5,7,8,9,10,11,13,14,15. Also, Visitors From the Pentagon #1,2,3,4. Do you know any other sites I can find these at? Thanks.

  9. You can read them in Mangafox.com (and probably in other online readers). But The quality would be a little lower than the actual.

For download (but you probably have to register!) you can use otakuworks.com - http://www.otakuworks.com/series/621/birdy-the-mighty-ii, but you'll have to download chapter-by-chapter (a little tedious and annoying).

There was one place where the manga was usually stored in whole volumes, but I need to remember the URL. So, stay tuned!

  10. Found it! It's MangaTraders.com: http://www.mangatraders.com/manga/series/1246. I don't know if you have to register or not, though. Anyway, here it's stored in volumes and you can download them as a whole. But keep in mind that if you use some Comic Viewer, such as CDisplay or ComicRack, sometimes you might need to rename some of the files. This might happen for two main reasons - different groups named the files in different ways (sometimes the one and the same group does the same stunt!) and it gets messy or the numbering sucks, i.e. first page is p1, second p2, etc. and in this way page 10, 11, 100, etc. are before page 2. And fixing this might be a "little" tedious and annoying, too (which is the only downside). But this not always happen, so I recommend you to use MangaTraders first and if it's fucked up, then try OtakuWorks.

Also, in MangaTraders you can pretty much do parallel downloading (not just one, but I don't recommend you to download more than 2 or 3 files at the same time - admins at the server on other websites sometimes get a little grumpy and stop your downloads when you overuse their welcome...) and have no waiting, writing letters or other popular and equally annoying stuff. But if you're looking for NEW manga, then usually you can find it in OtakuWorks pretty soon after its release, while in MangaTraders you may have to wait quite a while for them to appear (but eventually they do). Also, I think that Otaku have a little more manga titles than Traders, but I'm not sure I haven't counted them.

    End of comparison.

    I hope I helped.

  13. Well, I wasn't planning to go into that much detail in the last post, it just, you know, happened.

Anyway, the manga is a whole new story (actually the anime is a whole new story since it came afterwards) and compared to the anime, the manga is light-years above the anime. So, if you liked the anime, you'll definitely like the manga.

  14. To answer the other questions:
All my releases are here - http://www.mediafire.com/?vpa7wr29gyx1q. I don't know about the previous scanlators releases but evgenidb pretty much covered it.

Volume 8 page 105 is purposefully unreadable. It's Ryota trying to eavesdrop on his brother and not being able to make it out.

Page 161 is a Japanese name pun that I probably should have put a footnote on. Hazumi can also mean "impulse, or spur of the moment" and Tsutomu can mean "labor, or work" Not all that funny but Hikawa is probably thinking about what he's going to do to her (yikes!).
